Allison and Colin visit Flyfaire from Québec, Canada

Recently, Flyfaire had some international visitors from Montréal, Québec, Canada. Allison and Colin were visiting Australia for the first time this past September, 2015 and dropped into Flyfaire on their tour.

On their visit, they enjoyed seeing all of the kangaroos, wombats, and Flyfaire's cattle.

The food was great and the wine amaaazing....We saw tons of kangaroos, wombats and cows. It is definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Allison and Colin are considering moving to Australia for one year to live and work in the near future. We had fun hosting them and look forward to seeing them again in the near future.

Flyfaire Gets a Makeover with new Car & Bus Park

 Flyfaire Car and Bus Park

Flyfaire Car and Bus Park

Flyfaire is having a some makeover work with the additon of a new bus park and four-wheel drive car park. We've found a growing need over the past few years as we've grown to have more space for people to park and certainly as more and more tour buses come to Flyfaire, there was an obvious need to expand our car & bus parking facilities.

We hope the new facilities, will meet the needs of our growing patronage. The car park is due to be finished prior to the end of the year.

Flyfaire Wines is located in the Woomargama National Park and we are close to the regional centres of Holbrook, Albury/Wodonga, Canberra, and Wagga Wagga. We produce quality cool climate wines and provide a premium cellar door experience.

New Conference Room for a Corporate Event at Flyfaire WInes

We're proud to now offer the newest feature at our Cellar Door - a private Conference Room for corporate and private events. We recently hosted an Accounting Firm from Albury/Wodonga, as featured in the photos shown, in our new facilities. We received very positive feedback from them on the new facilities offered. This is a great feature for our customers who are looking for somewhere they can still enjoy Flyfaire Wines, albeit in a more private setting.

The private conference room is not only great for corporate events, but also for private events such as small birthday parties, celebrations, Christmas functions, or even private dinners. These events, when booked in advance, offer a custom menu experience that is tailored to the customer's needs. The room can host between 8-10 people comfortably.

We also cater to larger events which would use either our café area facilities or our deck for the warmer months. Contact us at info@flyfaire.com for more information.

Kid Friendly Winery: Our newest feature at Flyfaire is our children's playground

You might have seen late last year that we had recently begun construction of our new playground (think Les and Jarryd with the High-Vis gear on the playground). The great news is that we have officially finished our newest addition to Flyfaire last weekend and it was very popular with visiting families.

Having a 'Kid Friendly Winery' is true to our mission of having a great cellar door experience that enhances the local community and what better way than to ensure all ages are entertained when they visit Flyfaire!

To keep the children entertained outdoors, we have plenty of grass to play with, our mother goose, pat-friendly dogs who love kids, and, of course, our pretty fancy children's playground.

Inside the Cellar Door, we offer a baby toy box and also a children's menu to ensure all ages can enjoy something to eat or drink when visiting. Don't forget the very important problems that have been solved with pram access all on one level, baby changing facilities, choice of a quiet room or family area for breast feeding, and children's high chairs.

Fireside Poetry Event - The Works and Story of Billy Wye, The last True Australian Bush Poet

This coming Saturday, the 4th of July, 2015 at 12pm - Flyfaire is presenting a wonderful afternoon of Fireside Poetry. The poetry will be centred upon a local poet by the name of William James (Billy) Wye (born: 1866 / died: 1952) who is often referred to as 'The Last True Australian Bush Poet'.

Billy Wye was from our region and died in Albury, New South Wales at the age of 86. His story is a bit of tragic one and, as part of the afternoon, we will be sharing it with you. An excerpt from a book about Billy Wye by Dianne Carroll (who will be present at the event), explains:

After his death, his biographical manuscript, along with a suitcase full of photographs and literature, disappeared [...]. It is said that a close friend of his destroyed them, because there may have been an uproar as some of the contents were very controversial.

Brother's Cup Coffee - Indian Tiger Mountain A-Grade

 Coffee is served at Flyfaire

Coffee is served at Flyfaire

We recently introduced Brother's Cup's coffee as a new local supplier of our coffee at Flyfaire. Flyfaire is committed to sourcing as many ethical and organic ingredients as possible - coffee being no exception. Our latest addition is Indian Tiger Mountain A-Grade coffee; sweet in flavours with malt upfront, some orange acidity, a soft body and a bitter sweet chocolate / hazelnut finish.

More about Indian Tiger Mountain A-Grade Coffee

The Tiger Mountain A Grade is a Bennetts exclusive and specially selected for its varietal and altitude classification. The coffee promotes a longstanding partnership with fundraising initiative 21st Century Tiger. The coffee is grown under shade trees in the
Bababudan Giris region in India and comprises of SL795, SL9 and cauvery varietals. India cultivates all of its coffee under a well-defined two-tier mixed shade canopy, comprising evergreen leguminous trees. Nearly 50 different types of shade trees are found in
coffee plantations. Shade trees prevent soil erosion on a sloping terrain; they enrich the soil by recycling nutrients from deeper layers, protect the coffee plant from seasonal fluctuations in temperature, and play host to diverse flora and fauna.

For each bag of Tiger Mountain sold, the supplier donate US$1 towards the conservation and research of Indian tigers in Kahna National Park in the Mandla and Balaghat regions of India. This year we are supporting an exciting new conservation project utilising state-of-the-art technology which will revolutionise our understanding of the behaviour and movement of tigers in the wild.

Come and try the new coffee today at Flyfaire and let us know your thoughts!

Lamb Shanks in a Merlot Sauce

Lamb Shanks in a Merlot Sauce

This weekend being the first Saturday in May, we'll be lighting Miss Esse. Every year, on the first Saturday in May - mark your calendars - we'll be lighting her!

Miss Esse has multiple functions, including heating the Cellar Door in winter, cooking our fabulous slow cooked meals and just looking pretty damn good. We can only run her in the colder months as she gets too hot in summer and we wouldn't want to risk hot embers starting a bushfire.

Miss Esse will be slowly cooking up some yummy Lamb Shanks simmered in a Merlot sauce served with hot bread from Nord Bakery and plenty of butter to melt in your bread. Sounds mouthwatering? Come along and join us to celebrate her lighting.
