Father's Day @FlyfaireWines - 4th of September 2016

Father's Day is upon us for 2016 on the 4th of September and what better way to show Dad your appreciation than a day out at Flyfaire to relax in our natural surroundings and enjoy a glass of cool climate Riesling, Chardonnay or Merlot.

We look forward to welcoming you and Dad for a BBQ, a glass of our cool climate wine, a relaxing day in the surrounds of the Woomargama National Park, and most importantly treating Dad to a great day out. Don't forget that Dad can always watch the kids from our children's playground while enjoying some wine or a glass craft beer from Cheeky Peak Brewery.

Make a reservation here! Read our Reservation Policy here.

Dad will be savouring a juicy grass fed 200g rib-eye steak cooked perfectly on the BBQ with a selection of freshly prepared salads. You can check out our full menu here.

Flyfaire 2014 Riesling - Les & Marty Review New Flyfaire Vintage

Les, our Winemaker and Marty visiting from New Zealand recently reviewed a 2014 Riesling. Marty immediately notes the "Woomaragama Smell" of lime / Citrus aromas - a very fragrant and complex wine.

Les notes the wine is crisp with the flavours of the oak coming through. Les also tells us that the wine has a pH of around 3.01 and 12% alcohol content.

The 2014 Riesling is not yet available in our Online Shop, but it should be very shortly.

All in all, a very interesting wine. We hope you enjoy this short video.

The background noise by the way, is the insects outside at night!

Julianne & Les (Business Director & Winemaker) at the academy awards themed night for the NSW Tourism Awards

Monday 30th of November, 2015

Flyfaire Wines Cellar Door and Café announced today that it won the Silver Award in the "Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries" at the NSW Tourism Awards. The results (see full listing of results here) were announced last Thursday night on the 26th of November, 2015 at the gala event held at Darling Habour in Sydney, NSW.

Now in their 26th year, the NSW Tourism Awards celebrates and acknowledges tourism businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and success throughout the year. The Awards are a submission and inspection-based program and provide the opportunity to publicly recognise and showcase the State’s finest tourism operators.

The team at Flyfaire Wines believes the NSW Tourism Awards is a fantastic way to develop tourism in the Murray region, as well as for NSW. The awards also helps to recognise independent operators that are providing wonderful tourism experiences.

Flyfaire recently also won the Gold Award at the Inland Tourism Awards in Broken Hill in July of this year. Being a Silver Award Winner at the NSW Tourism Awards a great achievement for Flyfaire, with the competition stiff on the night.

Flyfaire recently won the Gold Award at the Inland Tourism Awards in Broken Hill in July of this year. Being a finalist at the NSW Tourism Awards is the next step for Flyfaire, but the competition is stiff at the state level with three high class competitors in the running.

Bimbadgen Winery (runner-up in 2014), Hungerford Hill Wines and Margan Wines (last year's winner) are all bound to make the decision tough for the judges in the category Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries. The Greater Hume Shire Visitor Information Centre was also a finalist at the NSW Tourism Awards, which is in the same area as Flyfaire.

Flyfaire Wines is located in the Woomargama National Park and we are close to the regional centres of Holbrook, Albury/Wodonga, Canberra, and Wagga Wagga. We produce quality cool climate wines and provide a premium cellar door experience.

New Hume Highway (M31) Signs for Flyfaire

Les, our Winemaker, with Flyfaire's new Sign on Hume Highway M31

Les, our Winemaker, with Flyfaire's new Sign on Hume Highway M31

The NSW Roads and Maritime service recently installed four fabulous highway signs this past Wednesday the 14th of October, indicating Flyfaire's turn-off on the Hume Highway (Motorway 31 or M31). The location of the new signs are shown on the below map indicated by the arrows. (Note, there are no signs indicating Flyfaire when coming from Holbrook (North side of Woomargama)).

Once you've turned-off onto Woomargama Way and heading into Woomargama, you need to turn-off onto the Tunnel Road. This is also indicated by a sign which also shows the distance to Flyfaire Wines - 11.9 Kilometres. You can also see the location of the sign on the map above.

New Platter | Country Terrine: Pork, Veal, and Pistachio

Our Newest Platter: Country Terrine with Pork, Veal, and Pistachio

Our Newest Platter: Country Terrine with Pork, Veal, and Pistachio

Our newest platter at Flyfaire's Café is a County Terrine made with pork, veal and pistachio nuts. Julianne, our chef, suggests that our newest platter goes extremely well with the crisp taste of a Flyfaire Riesling. The platter is served with fresh bread, which at the moment is made in-house, cheese from Locheilan, rocket and pickles (including pickled beetroots, artichokes, cornichons, and a homemade Flyfaire Riesling paste.

Love our platters? Some of our other platters on the menu to entice you include:

  • Aussie Platter: Smoked Kangaroo, Lamb and Ham, Tomato Relish, Garden Salad, Olives with Nord bread.
  • Mediterranean Platter: Prosciutto, Vento Salami, Sopressa, Garden Salad, Olives with Nord Bread (see photo below).
  • European Platter: Smoked Trout, Pickled Beetroot, Ricotta and Capers, Feta Cheese with Nord Rye Bread.
  • Cheese Platter: Locheilan Gold Medal Farmhouse Cheese Platter - Broken Blue, Wunghu Soft and Kulindi. All served with Flyfaire Riesling Paste and Nord Bread.

So, how do we make these platters so tasty you may ask? Easy! We use vegetables and herbs from Flyfaire's very own garden. Fresh organic produce is always sought from a variety of local producers to support the local community. Quality and low food miles are always a criteria for selection (check out our page on sustainability). Locally-produced is always freshest and travels less distance!

We are also committed to supporting the local community. And this is no exception when we were designing our new café menu items.

A good example of support for the community is that we purchase vegetables from a local Woomargama 11-year-old during the summer at our local post office/shop. We buy all the zucchini, squash and cucumbers that he can produce and use it in the Café menu.
